INTRODUCTION

Figure skating requires the skater to glide across an ice surface, with blades fixed to the bottoms of skating shoes. It is a beautiful sport, some people believe it is rather an art. Performance of figure skating involves technical movements including various jumps, spins, axels, etc. Throughout ice skating history, many legendary female figure skaters broke records, continuously challenged the limits of the human body, and worked their best to improve and enhance their skills. Lots of these female figure skaters are role models for the future talents, inspiring us with their stories, from hardships to successes.
ANNA SHCHERBAKOVA

Russian skater Anna Stanislavovna Shcherbakova, started her ice skating journey in 2007. Her most outstanding record is winning the 2022 Olympics champion and the 2021 World Champion. She currently has the third highest free skating score, of any female skater, with 175.75 points. The first senior woman to land a quad lutz, and the first woman to land two quad lutz jumps in a single program. Shcherbakova is also one of the few female skaters to have landed a quad flip, both internationally and domestically. She is the first woman to land a quad flip in combination with a triple toe. (Information from Wikipedia) Even though she faced many hardships and challenges in her skating career, she still focused on her feelings when she was on
ice. During the interview for the 2022 Beijing Olympics, she stated."I think it came to me with experience: I learned to enjoy the competitions and not only worry and [have] negative emotions. Probably all of this came with experience: With each competition, you get something new; you have a new look at different things, and start to feel everything calmly." She is someone who strives and learns through her mistakes, this is the reason why she now stands on top of the ice skating field.
