Where is Southeast Asia?

Southeast Asia, from eastern India to China, consists of eleven countries. These countries are Brunei, Myanmar, Cambodia, Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Here’s some culture of some of the countries!

Brunei

Brunei, located in Southeast Asia, bordering the South China Sea and Malaysia. The languages that are mostly spoken and used are Malay, English, followed by Mandarin. The visual and performing arts have for centuries been a big part of Bruneian culture. Brunei is renowned for its metalwork and producing gongs, cannons, and other articles that were often embossed with designs of serpents and other animals.

Myanmar

Myanmar, western portion of mainland Southeast Asia. More than 80% of the population in Myanmar are Buddhist. Myanmar’s culture is heavily influenced by Buddhism and has been since the 1st century AD. Shin-byu is a religious ceremony that all Buddhist boys are expected to undergo and is considered the highest merit-earning act for the family. The arts and literature of Myanmar includes wood carving, lacquer work, gold work, silverwork, and the sculpting of Buddhist images and mythological figures.

Timor-Leste

As a country located between Southeast Asia and Oceania, Timor-Leste culture is strong and unique. It reflects under many different influences: traditional animist beliefs; a former Portuguese colony; the impact of WWII; the more recent Indonesian invasion and spirited Timorese resistance; the role of the Catholic Church and the effects of other minority groups such as Chinese traders.Timor-Leste’s traditional music, dance and story-telling is a fundamental part of its cultural heritage.

Indonesia

Indonesia is a country in Southeast Asia and Oceania between the Indian and Pacific oceans.

Indonesia's rich culture begets so many inspired works of art — paintings, sculpture, music, dance, theatre, and more. From the ancient times to contemporary era, Indonesian artists keep drawing inspiration from the archipelago's culture, values, and nature, ensuring the art scene stays alive and progressing.

Malaysia

Malaysian culture involves a lot of food and a lot of celebration. Malaysia is the “open house” concept where ─ during the various cultural and religious festivals such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Puasa, Deepavali and Christmas ─ friends, families and even strangers would visit the homes of those who are celebrating the festival, to wish them well and enjoy the feast prepared by their hosts.
