Everyone goes through different challenges in life every day. But sometimes we reach a point where everything seems so overwhelming. We feel tired and mentally drained. This affects our mental as well as physical health. So what can one do to take care of themselves? Don't worry, we got you covered!


TAKE A BREAK

Know that it’s okay to be not okay. Step away from the chaos for a while, and take a relaxing break. Practice some breathing exercises and get sufficient sleep. Try doing something that makes you happy like dancing, singing, painting, etc.


EAT AND DRINK WELL

Nowadays, most people have a high caffeine intake. So cut down on caffeine as it can be harmful to your body. What you eat nourishes your whole body, including your brain. Carbohydrates (in moderate amounts) increase serotonin, a chemical that has been shown to have a calming effect on your mood. Also, make sure to drink the right amount of water and stay hydrated.


MAINTAIN A JOURNAL

You can maintain a journal wherein you may answer reflective questions every day. This will help you stay focused and avoid unnecessary anxiety and stress. Starting a gratitude journal also helps in manifesting happiness and positivity.


OPEN UP TO SOMEONE

Knowing others value you is essential for helping you think more positively. Plus, being more trusting can increase your emotional well-being because as you get better at finding the positive aspects in other people, you become better at recognizing your own.


These little efforts for your self-care can do wonders for your mental and physical health. Doing things you like increases our brain's dopamine levels and gives us a happy rush. So don’t forget to prioritize and treat yourself no matter how busy you are.
