Every country has its own culture that we can’t copy. Based on the title, Chinese culture came from China and spread widely into Asia contingent. Chinese culture features an abundance of material and spiritual values. Despite the influence from outside and numerous invasions, Chinese culture preserved its individuality and unique identity. Chinese culture includes customs and traditions, music, dances, painting, language, cuisine, clothing, and applied art. Of special note is the Chinese-written language. The Chinese were writing on wooden plates, then on silk, and at the turn of our era, they invented paper.
Things that unique in Chinese culture
First, it is hongbao. During Chinese New Year, Hongbao is a tradition. It is a red envelope with some decorations according to what year it is this year (Chinese zodiac) and money inside the envelope. Usually, it is given by the elders of the family. Stop receiving the hongbao when you got married. So, you can have hongbao until you get married.
Second, Lucky number and unfortunate number. ‘6’, which symbolizes smooth going, and ‘8’, which symbolizes wealth. The exception is ‘4’, which sounds like ‘death’ in Chinese. For example, when allocating hotel rooms to Chinese guests, try not to allocate any room with the number 4, particularly 4 and 14, which means ‘you are going to die. On the other hand, rooms with ‘8’ signify good fortune and the prediction of wealth.
Third, Tea culture. Tea is the drink of choice and is synonymous with Chinese culture. It is a good idea to have a variety of quality Chinese tea available to offer your guests and have appropriate cups, saucers, teapots, etc., to show respect for Chinese tea culture traditions. Always have hot water available and try to pour tea for your Chinese visitors as frequently as possible. This is seen as a sign of respect, politeness, and friendliness.
Four, fortune colors. Red and gold are my favorite traditional colors. Red signifies ‘celebration, happiness and goodwill’, while gold signifies ‘luxury, wealth and splendor.’ Black is a popular, subtle color that is regarded as sophisticated while not drawing attention. All official government vehicles are black.
Five, food. Chinese has a lot of traditional foods to try. But here are some food that has the symbol. Long noodles signify longevity and are often served at birthdays to symbolize a long and healthy life. Fish symbolizes wealth and prosperity and is served especially at Chinese New Year. Lobster and abalone are served as a delicacy for important guests.
